Certified Lye™ ships lye throughout the United States and US territories. Lye can be delivered to any domestic destination, including Alaska, Hawaii, American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and all APO/FPO addresses. Lye cannot be shipped internationally to countries other than the USA. Canisters of lye are sent via an expedited air service that costs $21.99 or less for each package of twelve canisters (15 pounds) of lye. Certified Lye™ charges a hazmat handling fee of $2.99 or less per package.
Purchased items are shipped no later than the next business day after confirmed payment is received. If for any reason the items cannot be shipped the next business day, the customer will be contacted via email and notified of the shipping date.
Certified Lye™ does not release, sell, trade, rent, or otherwise make customers' private information (name, address, email, and telephone number) available to third parties. Customers' information is kept strictly confidential.
Certified Lye™ provides an SDS for Lye (sodium hydroxide), which may be viewed and printed. Customers may request the SDS be sent either by US mail or be included with the shipment of lye. The SDS for Lye is reviewed at least every six months for accuracy and is revised if necessary.
Certified Lye™ never compromises quality; if a product does not meet our quality standards we will not offer it for sale. Each bag of lye (sodium hydroxide) is tested for quality before and during packaging. Certified Lye™ certifies that each canister of lye (sodium hydroxide)…

Due to the hazardous nature of shipping lye (sodium hydroxide) and/or caustic potash (potassium hydroxide), Certified Lye™ does not accept returns or exchanges. All sales of lye (sodium hydroxide) and/or caustic potash (potassium hydroxide) are final.
To promote the handmade soap industry, Certified Lye™ offers a 5% refund of the price of lye to Natural Soap Directory subscribers, Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild members, and Soapmaking Studio students. To celebrate and encourage participation in National Soapmaking Day, the last Sunday of September, all Certified Lye™ brand products are discounted by 5% for the entire day at the Soapmaking Studio in San Diego, CA.
It is our policy to make as little impact on the environment as possible. Certified Lye™ packages sodium hydroxide in recyclable HDPE plastic canisters. Our products are shipped in "Cradle to Cradle" certified boxes that exceed environmental standards for material content, recyclability, and manufacturing characteristics. Certified Lye ™ packages shipments with biodegradable corn starch packing peanuts or with recycled/reused packing materials. The Certified Lye™ facility is powered with solar panels. All of our paperwork and invoicing is done either electronically or on 100% post-consumer recycled paper not whitened with chlorine. Our offices and facility are stocked with facial tissue, paper towels, and toilet paper made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper not whitened with chlorine. The entire Certified Lye™ facility is illuminated by either Solatube® TDDs, LED lights, or compact fluorescent light bulbs. We also have recycling bins, yard waste recycling receptacles, and a large composter available for staff and visitors.
